Confessions of a Modern Christian Girl

Confessions of a Modern Christian Girl

Katherine Hudson was a normal girl living in California… She grew up in a Christian home with her little brother and older sister. Her dad was a pastor and her mother was involved in the ministry as well. Katherine loved music. She loved singing and she loved hearing new music-especially secular music which was not allowed in her home. Katherine knew that when she grew up she wanted to be a singer. She planned on it her whole life growing up.

When Katherine was 13 her parents gave her a guitar. She practiced as much as she could until she was really good. Something happened within the next 5 years of her life. Katherine began sneaking secular music into her room. She broke her parents rules. The more sneaking she did the more she slipped into a secular lifestyle.

Can I Really Trust God With My Future?

Can I Really Trust God With My Future?

“If I do things my way I will be happy. I can’t trust God with something like this!”

“God’s ways are too religious for me, I need to make things happen my way or else I won’t be happy.”

“Only I know what I need. My future is my problem. Jesus can just come along with me for when I need help.”

“This is too precious a thing to trust God with.”

All of these statements are made from people who have..

Hello there, Beautiful!

It is the start of a new year, new goals, new friends, new days to begin and enjoy. As we look back on the year we have just experienced we are reminded of the times we were made stronger through hard days, the times we smiled and laughed so hard we couldn’t control ourselves, the times we loved deeply, and the times we cried ourselves to sleep. But we look ahead,..

What Your Dream Guy Wants in a Girl

What Your Dream Guy Wants in a Girl

I recently did an interview on the topic of dating, marriage and courtship. I was giving my thoughts on romance, boundaries, guys and how I want my future relationship to work out.

One of the questions the lady interviewing me asked was “what qualities are you looking for in guy?”

Talk about a super basic question that I should easily know the answer to. Wrong! I was totally caught off guard..

Oh yes, it’s that time of year again and I am soooo beyond excited for the upcoming holidays. At my house we have many traditions that I like to hold dear to my heart and it’s what makes me so cheery right around this time of year. Another reason why I love the holiday season is because of all the warm friendship that is felt between friends and family members. Home is at the center of..

Virtue and Chivalry in the 21st Century

Virtue and Chivalry in the 21st Century

The other day I was on Facebook and an ad for fashion came up that had the tagline describing their clothes as: “Noble, Elegant, Sexy, and Pure.” I thought, “Huh, that doesn’t sound right.” I mean, how did the word “Sexy” sneak its way in between the three other words?

In our generation, most people (mostly young people aged 13-30) just don’t even know the meaning of words like nobility,..

Purity, a Thing of the Past

Purity, a Thing of the Past

Last night was the launch of Taylor Swift’s new and “improved” album, 1989. Girls everywhere are raving about the new pop icon’s greatest success and her amazing new style of music. I can’t help but notice that Taylor got her popularity by singing about broken relationships and whimsical love story songs. Don’t get me wrong. I love Taylor Swift and I used to truly respect and look up to this..

Surviving the “Relationship Status”

Surviving the “Relationship Status”

Lori tossed her books onto her nightstand and then threw herself on her bed. She began crying and sobbing into her pillow. God had finally blessed her with an amazing man in her life and things were going great between them. She just couldn’t understand why she felt so scared and so upset. Lori had thought that once she began a relationship with someone that it would be fun and that it would..

Fitting In or Standing Out

Fitting In or Standing Out

I was 13 and it was high time I start finding a group of people to dress like, act like, be attracted to and be attractive to. I had to pick my style of clothes and personality type. I had to in order to fit in and feel accepted. There were so many people to act like though, how could I choose?

My choices were limited but looked a little bit like this: There were the nerdy media kids who have..
